Associate Campaigns Director

The Associate Campaigns Director will work as a lead member of the Campaigns Team to develop and implement Corporate Accountability’s organizing strategy, with particular emphasis on our Challenging Corporate Control of Water Campaign. Through in-person meetings, on the phone, and at actions and events, the Associate Campaigns Director will organize activists and organizational allies to build the base of power to win our campaigns.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate international, national, regional and local actions and events, with a focus on our U.S. and international water campaigning.

Senior Campaigns Organizer

The Senior Campaigns Organizer is responsible for developing and implementing campaign strategies and tactics, and for mobilizing and expanding Corporate Accountability International’s base of activists and allies in the US and internationally, with particular emphasis on our Think Outside the Bottle campaign. The Senior Campaigns Organizer maintains in-person, phone, mail and email communication with individual activists and allied organizations; recruits new activists and builds new alliances; organizes actions and events; serves as a campaign spokesperson, keeps accurate, complete and usable records; and raises funds. All organizing is  overseen by the Campaign Director, involving other staff, activists and allies as appropriate.

Field Organizer

International Organizer

Washington, D.C.

The International Organizer will lead organizing on our Campaign Challenging Big Tobacco by: cultivating NGO and government allies to advance the global tobacco treaty and protect it from tobacco industry interference, producing action alerts and other materials, and organizing at international meetings and conferences. This staff leader will also develop and implement organizing projects related to international policies on water and food and strengthen relationships with the World Health Organization, other United Nations bodies and NGOs working on corporate accountability issues in these arenas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit and mobilize NGO leaders around the world to challenge tobacco transnational interference in the global tobacco treaty.
  • Generate and distribute campaign-related action alerts, updates and reports.
  • Organize at international meetings related to specific campaign objectives and corporate accountability measures in general.

Development Associate

The Development Associate will work closely with the Development Director, providing critical support to enable her to optimize her time and focus the work of the Development Unit. The Development Associate will support high level individual fundraising programs, lead research efforts and will meet scheduling and logistical needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee prospect management and research.
  • Maintain records on the database and create fundraising lists and reports.

Grants Associate

Boston

The Grants Associate will write proposals and accompanying reports to support our Think Outside the Bottle campaign, our Campaign Challenging Corporate Abuse of our Food and Challenging Big Tobacco Campaign. Working with our Development Director and other senior staff, the Grants Associate also will research prospective foundations, track our outreach and coordinate and support the grant seeking work of our Foundations Team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research prospective national, regional, and family foundations.
  • Develop, draft and edit proposals for our water, food, and tobacco industry campaigns and general organizational support.
  • Prepare, draft and edit grant reports to foundations.
  • Work with our financial staff to prepare and submit financial reports to foundations.
  • Ensure regular communication with current and prospective program officers and funders.
  • Facilitate timely and effective planning and budgeting of foundation outreach program.

Online Director

The Online Director is responsible for directing Corporate Accountability International’s online outreach, web design, content development and optimization. The Online Director is responsible for developing Corporate Accountability International’s online outreach and fundraising plan and contributing to the development of the organization’s communications plan.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the organization’s online fundraising.
  • Optimize the level at which our online activist and membership network is engaged.
  • Grow our online action and membership list.
  • Supervise the online team.
  • Drive organizational web development, maintenance and expansion.
  • Raise money for the online program through grant writing and foundation work.
  • Drive the organization’s online social marketing program.

International Policy Associate

The International Policy Associate will carry out specific research and organizing projects related to international policy initiatives on tobacco, water and food, write reports, do outreach to NGO and government allies, and monitor developments in the United Nations and related institutions. The International Policy Associate will also provide administrative support, including data and office management, and assist with intern recruitment.

Program Administrator - Campaigns & Recruitment

The Program Administrator works closely with the Campaigns and Staff Recruitment Directors, providing critical support for these two growing programs. The Program Administrator will develop and implement systems to move the staff recruitment process forward in a timely, welcoming, and efficient manner, ensuring that the best candidates are hired. In supporting the Campaigns Team, the Program Administrator will provide logistical support for campaign actions and keep campaign systems and tracking up to date.

Executive Assistant

Boston

The Executive Assistant will work closely with the Deputy Director, providing critical support to the organization’s campaigns, communications and development programs. The Executive Assistant will support program and executive management functions, organizational expansion plans, and coordinate scheduling and logistical needs. This is a position for an accomplished organizer who enjoys the management and administrative systems needed to run campaigns and organizations effectively.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize special projects with and for the Deputy Director
  • Manage the Deputy Director’s calendar
  • Schedule and prepare materials and agendas for the organization’s management team and staff meetings, take and distribute notes, and ensure next steps are communicated and implemented

Campaigns/Organizing Internship

Have you ever wanted to learn how to run an issues-based organizing campaign?  Our campaigns internship is a leadership skills-building program, in which interns will take on a significant project to advance Corporate Accountability International’s Think Outside the Bottle  and/or Value [the] Meal campaigns.  The position may also include work on our emerging campaigns, including our food industry campaign, with a focus on the food industry’s impacts on public health, marketing practices, and interference in health policy.

Interns will have primary responsibility for significant projects and will master a variety of skills, including:

Research Internship

Boston

The Research Intern will assist our research team, including the Senior Researcher and the Research Director, in conducting analysis and research needed to develop and implement our campaigns, including our Campaign Challenging Corporate Control of Water and our Campaign Challenging Corporate Abuse of Our Food.

Specifically, the research intern will:

  • Help further develop our analysis of the bottled water industry’s practices and impacts, including water sourcing, quality testing, packaging materials and energy use, and groundwater extraction.
  • Assess and analyze information regarding the various vehicles for water privatization, and help analyze World Bank process and projects involving water resources management that promote privatization.
  • The position may also include some work developing our emerging campaigns, including our food industry campaign, with a focus on the food industry’s impacts on public health, marketing practices, and interference in nutrition and health policy.   By gathering, analyzing, synthesizing and tracking information using a variety of sources and approaches, the Research Intern will help deepen our organization’s understanding of key issues related to water, and will help lay the foundation for the next phase of our campaigns.

The media assistant will raise visibility for Corporate Accountability International and the organization's campaign work.  Areas of focus will include the Think Outside the Bottle campaign, the Campaign Challenging Big Tobacco, and our Value [the] Meal campaign. The media assistant will work with the Press Officer and the communications team.

Specifically, the Media Assistant will:

  • Conduct outreach to targeted local, regional and national media.
  • Track and monitor reporters and developments in campaign issues.
  • Write letters to the editor.
  • Prepare press kits.
  • Help with overall administration of the media outreach program.

The Online Assistant will be supporting the Communications Team in updating the websites, sending online communications to members and activists, updating and organizing on social networking sites. The Online Assistant will also be supporting the Communications Team in implementing strategic online plans to raise public awareness for Corporate Accountability International’s campaign work.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Website editing and maintenance.
  • Updating and organizing on social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and YouTube.

Corporate Accountability International is building our team of staff and we’re seeking a Recruitment Intern to assist in implementing an outreach program to identify and hire top-notch organizers, fundraisers, researchers, and administrators, from entry-level to senior staff positions. The Recruitment Intern will play a key role in the program by ensuring that all new job openings are publicized broadly on websites and listserves to reach the best potential candidates, and by acknowledging, evaluating, and processing all incoming job applications.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The Recruitment Intern will post, update, and monitor current job announcements on various websites and listserves.
  • Liaise with support staff of various job websites—asking them questions when necessary and keeping records of where and when positions are posted.
  • Keep organized, updated, and concise records of all website and listserve job postings.
  • Under the supervision of the Recruitment Organizer, the Recruitment Intern will organize, evaluate, and process job applications (including cover letters and résumés).
